La Liga Title Race Heats Up
The La Liga title race is getting intense! Last week, Barcelona topped the table with 57 points, followed by Atletico Madrid with 56 and Real Madrid with 54. But things have taken a dramatic turn this week. Barcelona’s match against Osasuna was postponed, but despite the game in hand, they remain at the top of the table.
Real Madrid climbed to second place with a 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano at the Santiago Bernabéu. Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. were the heroes for Los Blancos, scoring in the 30th and 34th minutes to give Madrid a 2-0 lead. Vallecano pulled one back just before halftime (45+2), but Carlo Ancelotti’s side held on for the win, taking them to 57 points — just behind Barcelona on goal difference.
Surprise of the week from Getafe
Getafe pulled off a shock comeback against Atletico Madrid in one of the most dramatic matches of the season. Atletico took the lead in the 75th minute through Alexander Sörloth and seemed on course for victory. However, Correa’s red card in the 88th minute changed the momentum. Getafe immediately capitalized, with Arambarri scoring twice — in the 88th minute and in stoppage time (90+2) — to secure a 2-1 win.
